How It Works

The Advaya recycling process

A transparent eight-step journey that takes your retired electronics from doorstep to fully documented, certified recovery.

01

Collection of E-Waste

We gather e-waste from businesses (retired IT and office equipment), households (phones, computers, appliances) and institutions (schools, hospitals, government offices) — coordinating doorstep pickups and collection drives through our reverse logistics network.

02

Sorting of E-Waste

At our facility, every item is classified by device type, material and reuse potential — split into reusable devices, recyclable materials (metals, plastics, glass), and hazardous components like batteries and fluorescent lighting.

03

Repairing of E-Waste

Our technicians evaluate functional or lightly-damaged devices, restore them to working condition, and route them for resale or donation — extending their useful life instead of the scrap pile.

04

Processing of E-Waste

Before anything moves further down the line, hazardous substances such as mercury, lead and cadmium are isolated and safely treated to prevent contamination.

05

Dismantling

Skilled hands manually break devices down into circuit boards, cables and wiring, batteries and screens — separating what needs special handling from what can move straight to recovery.

06

Component Recovery

Precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium), copper, aluminium and rare-earth elements are extracted for reuse — cutting demand for fresh mining and feeding the circular economy.

07

Recycling

What can’t be repaired is broken down to its core materials — metals recovered for new devices, plastics reprocessed into new products, and glass repurposed for construction or display panels.

08

Residual Disposal

Whatever can’t be recycled or recovered is sent to authorised disposal facilities under government-approved protocols, so nothing hazardous ever reaches the environment.

Why e-waste differs from other waste

E-waste has a complex composition — valuable metals mixed with hazards such as lead in circuit boards and CRTs, mercury in lighting and batteries, cadmium in batteries and solar panels, and flame retardants. Unlike biodegradable waste, it can persist in landfills for centuries.

Why e-waste is growing

  • Technological advancements shortening product lifespans
  • Rising consumer demand for new devices
  • Planned obsolescence built into modern electronics

Do’s of e-waste disposal

  • Recycle at certified e-waste collection centers
  • Backup and erase your data before recycling
  • Donate working electronics to extend their life
  • Check for local e-waste collection events
  • Choose repair over replacement when possible

Don’ts of e-waste disposal

  • Don’t throw electronics in the trash
  • Don’t dismantle devices yourself
  • Don’t export e-waste to under-regulated countries
  • Don’t store old devices indefinitely
  • Don’t ignore local e-waste regulations
