Material Recovery

Zero-waste-discharge processing recovers gold, copper and aluminium and feeds them back into the circular economy.

E-waste isn’t waste so much as ore that’s already been mined once. Circuit boards, cables and casings carry gold, copper, silver and other metals worth recovering — both for the economics and for keeping fresh mining out of the loop.

The UN Global E-waste Monitor 2024 valued the metals in 2022’s global e-waste at an estimated US $91 billion — including roughly $19bn of copper, $15bn of gold and $16bn of iron.
Only about US $28 billion of that potential — under a third — is currently recovered as secondary raw material, despite the technology to recover it existing today.
Beyond the headline metals, e-waste also carries palladium, silver and rare-earth elements; recovering them cuts demand for virgin mining, even where a precise recovery value isn’t published.
Every kilogram recovered is a kilogram that doesn’t need to be freshly mined, refined and shipped.
